Tongbei Wuyi

1.Tongbei Wuyi

Tongbei Wuyi is an ancient Chinese martial arts school. It originated from the martial arts thought of Yan-Li School in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties in China, which advocated the unity of spirit and form in life practice. "Tongbei" is a martial arts system that integrates and melts. It has an orderly origin and rich content. The concept of Tongbei Wuyi is: "To understand the spirit and achieve transformation, to be all-in-one, to understand the theory and image, and to have both body and function". In terms of boxing, it mainly absorbs the essence of traditional boxing such as Pigua, Baji, Chuojiao, and Fanzi. It is based on the combination of Pigua and Baji, and also integrates Fanzi, Chuojiao, etc., integrating the two methods of long fist and short fight into one. It is a large-scale martial arts school with "Tongbei Jing" as the core.

2.Piguaqan

Piguaquan was popular among the people in the Ming Dynasty. The Ming Dynasty general Qi Jiguang (1528-1588) wrote in the Jixiao Xinshu and other classics. It was also called "Piguaquan" in ancient times, also known as Momianquan. Because it often uses palms, it is also called Piguazhang. In the Qing Dynasty, it was mainly practiced in Yanshan, Cangxian, Nanpi County and other places in Hebei Province. It was Pan Wenxue who advocated and spread Tongbei Quan in Yanshan and Cangxian in the Qing Dynasty. Pan was the "teacher" of Yanshan County during the Daoguang and Xianfeng periods of the Qing Dynasty (in charge of education, and also ran Yanshan Academy). Yanshan Academy taught students in both civil and military departments for several years. The military department was full of talents. Among them, Li Yunbiao and Xiao Hecheng had the highest attainments and became the highest successors of Tongbei Piguaquan.

3.Bajiquan

Bajiquan is also known as "Kaimen Bajiquan" or "Yueshan Bajiquan". "Kaimen" means that it uses six opening methods (Liudakai) as the core of the technique to break the opponent's gate (Fanggong Jiazi). "Baji" is based on the ancient saying that "outside Jiuzhou there are Bayin, outside Bayin there are Bahong, outside Bahong there are Baji", which means "the eight directions are extremely far away". "Yueshan" means that Baji originated from Yueshan Temple in Jiaozuo, Henan, so it is named "Yueshan". The origin of Bajiquan can be found in the author. One theory is that it was passed down to Wu Zhong by Zhang Yueshan from Henan. There are other theories, but each theory needs to be verified. Wu Zhong passed on his art to his daughter Wu Rong. Later, the Wu family moved to Mengcun Town, Cang County, Hebei Province, and Mengcun became the place where Bajiquan was spread.

4.Fanziquan

Fanziquan, also known as "Fanzi" and "Fanquan". The original name was "Bashanfan", commonly known as "Fanziquan". It is a short-fighting type of boxing with a long history. In the Ming Dynasty, Qi Jiguang's Jixiao Xinshu Quanjing Jieyao Pian recorded: "Bashanfan and Shierduan, this is also the best of the best". The moves such as Dangtoupao, Aoluanzhou, Shunluanzhou, and Qigushi in the 32 postures of the boxing classics are extracted from Fanziquan. In modern times, Fanziquan originated from Zhao Laocan in Hebei, Zhao passed it on to Duan Luoxu, Xu Zhaoxiong in Northeast China got Duan's Fanziquan, and later passed it on to Hao Mingjiu, Hu Fengsan and others in Shenyang. In addition, Cheng Dongge in Yantai is also good at Fanziquan and practices Tanglang Jiushou. In the early years of the Republic of China, Ma Fengtu and Ma Yingtu masters learned Fanziquan from Hao, Cheng, and Hu; Hao, Cheng, and Hu learned Tongbei Piguaquan from the Ma brothers.

5.Chuojiaoquan

Chuojiao fist, also known as Cuojiao or Chuojiao. Chuojiao is a unique martial art in northern China. It is respected as the "leg master" in the martial arts world and is known as a superior skill. Chuojiao fist originated from Zhou Tong in the Song Dynasty and has been passed down to this day. In his posthumous work, he also wrote: "Eighteen leg flips are from Zhou Tong, and advance and retreat are linked to Yan Qing." Qi Jiguang of the Ming Dynasty once had a very high evaluation of Wenjiaquan. In his "Jixiao Xinshu", he talked about ancient and modern boxers. Song Taizu 32shi Changquan, Liubuquan, Houquan, and Siquan. Each posture has its own name, but they are actually similar. To this day, Wen's 72-line boxing, 36 combined locks, 24 abandoned probes, 8 flashes, and 12 shorts are the best of the best. In modern times, Chuojiao originated from Feng Keshan in Hebei, who passed it on to Duan Xu, who then passed it on to Xu Zhaoxiong in Northeast China.
